12.75% Raises For Doctors Council SEIU Members in Cook County, Illinois

Doctors Council SEIU members in Cook County, Illinois ratify contracts at ACHN, Cermak and Provident which have been signed by the County Board. These doctors received a 12.75% raise on their paychecks along with a retro check for the pay raises.

"These contracts regularize employment conditions, salaries, and problem-solving mechanisms for patient care and working conditions issues" notes Dr. Peter Orris. "They provide, for the first time, guaranteed due process for doctors disciplinary situations. The contract also includes regular meetings of patient care committees to permit the direct interactions of front line physicians with health and hospital leadership - all important achievements"

Joining their colleagues at Oak Forest Hospital (who have already received the 12.75% raise), these doctors are now back to the table for bargaining, with hours of work, overtime hours, CME and many more issues being discussed. With the assistance of Christine Boardman, President of SEIU Local 73, Dr. Peter Orris, and Emilie Junge, Doctors Council SEIU Regional Coordinator, the bargaining team for our Union includes: Drs. Martin and Piller from ACHN, Drs. Ledvora and Lott from Cermak, Drs. Begum, Jolepalem, Theodorakis and Vaseemuddion from Oak Forest, and Drs. Gandia, Kirby and Nickson from Provident.

In addition, Dr. Lott is attending the "universal" argaining on behalf of the Doctors Council SEIU, where issues such as pension, cost of living, anf insurance - all affecting the doctors - are being negotiated.
