(New York– May 14, 2025) Doctors Council SEIU, which represents doctors throughout New York City, including in the public hospitals system, NYC Health + Hospitals, mayoral agencies such as the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Departmentof Education, as well as in correctional facilities such as Rikers Island, has today announced its endorsements for the upcoming June 2025 primaries for New York City.

Frances Quee, M.D., President of Doctors Council SEIU, issued the following statement regarding the choices of endorsements this ahead of the general election: “At a time when our public hospitals are under threat and working families are still recovering from crisis after crisis, we need leaders who will stand shoulder to shoulder with the frontline workers who keep this city healthy. That’s why we’re proud to endorse candidates who understand the value of public service and the power of organized labor.

The doctors of this city—many of whom serve in the busiest, most under-resourced hospitals— deserve champions in City Hall who will fight for them, not against them. We need elected officials who will reject Medicaid cuts, defend public healthcare funding, and invest in the people who make this city run. These endorsements are about choosing partners who will fight for our patients, our members, and the future of public health in New York City.

We’re hopeful about the road ahead—and confident that with strong leadership, we can protect what matters most. Together, we can build a city that treats healthcare as a right, not a privilege.”
