Allina’s Unionized Doctors to Announce First Ever Picket as Push for Fair First Contract Continues

Doctors and Advanced Practice Providers to hold informational pickets across the metro to raise awareness on need for action from AllinaMINNESOTA – TODAY, Wednesday, May 28th, at 10 a.m. on Zoom, doctors and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) from Allina Health who are members of Doctors Council-SEIU will announce the date and time for their first ever informational pickets as they continue their push for a fair first contract.

In October of 2023, over 600 Allina doctors, physicians’ assistants, and nurse practitioners who provide primary care in Minnesota voted to form their union with the Doctors Council, becoming the largest private-sector doctors union in the country. They have been bargaining a first contract since February of 2024, with a focus on reaching an agreement that ensures their work is valued, they have safe working conditions and their voice is heard, so they can do what they do best: spend time with patients and keep Minnesota families healthy.

Doctors from the group will share details on the pickets and will share why they are willing to escalate to this step in their push to win what is right for themselves and their patients.
